Anatomie van een struikel is a wordless performance that draws on one of slapstick’s most iconic moves: the fall.

Two performers enter an empty stage covered with a dance mat that seems too large for the available space. But you can be sure they’ll find a solution. Anatomie van een struikel (Anatomy of a Stumble) aims to reveal the potential of stumbling and explores those fundamental physical mishaps! The duo explores the codes of slapstick* and proves to us that failure can surprise and move us.

This show serves as a counterbalance to a world often focused on efficiency and performance. It reminds us of the value of imperfection, failure, vulnerability, resilience, falling, and getting back up.

*A comedic genre involving deliberately exaggerated physical violence (falls, blows, chases, etc.)

Salomé Mooij

At the age of 18, Salomé Mooij left The Hague for Belgium to study philosophy, theater directing, and physical theater. These three disciplines are reflected in all of Salomé’s works and in what motivates her. She is a performer and theater creator working at the intersection of visual arts, philosophy, and theater.

Since 2022, Salomé has become interested in the development of her theatrical practice, in the dynamics and intuitive perspective of the clown: not only on stage, but also in the way we behave in the world. The clown’s receptivity corresponds to her presence as an artist and to the direct relationship of her unconventional work, which explores boundaries and interaction.

Salomé Mooij creates her own works as an independent artist, in collaboration with partners such as SoAP (NL) and De Maan. In recent years, she has also been working on an international scale. Gathering Ground (2021) is on the program at METROPOLIS/KIT in Copenhagen, Het Schuilatelier (2020) and Proxemics (2023) in Bern (Auawirleben festival), and the reading-performance Studie van een struikel (2025) in Nyon (FAR festival). In order to carry out larger-scale projects more independently, she founded the non-profit organization Fooling Around in 2024.
